DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The mission of Student Affairs and Campus Life is to foster the well-being and development of students as whole persons, complementing and enhancing their learning skills through programs and experiences that prepare them for leadership roles in a diverse, global community. Serving over 40,000 students, Student Affairs and Campus Life is a large, diverse organization composed of Student Retention & Success; Student Life; Athletics; Online Student Experience; Student Affairs Case Management Services; Center for Student Accountability, Growth, and Education; Career Center; and Recreation. Student Affairs and Campus Life works collaboratively and in partnership with Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs; eight Undergraduate Colleges; the Teaching + Learning Commons; Educational Innovation; Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; Academic Affairs; Enrollment Management; and Student Health & Well-being.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director - Assessment, Evaluation and Organizational Development ('AEOD') provides internal project management, assessment, and strategic initiatives support to Student Affairs and Campus Life.
The incumbent will provide leadership and program administration for all VCSA organizational development initiatives for key initiatives related to the division and campus strategic plans, including leading work groups and collecting and communicating the progress on Student Affairs strategic goals.
Duties include program development; program delivery enhancements, planning and implementation; researching and maintaining program records; and working within assigned budgets. This position will implement programs that seek to address results of assessment and evaluation efforts including: performance improvement of operational functions of VC Student Affairs staff, promoting organizational effectiveness, and VCSA’s role in the entire UC San Diego student experience. Notable programs include, but are not limited to, Professional Development Day, Leadership Development, All-Staff Professional Development and Triton Time.
The incumbent will work on a number of the high-level special projects and initiatives that involve assessment and program evaluation; learning outcomes and goals; and writing reports; providing written updates and visual representations; analysis, reports and briefing; and work direction and supervision or ad hoc projects or initiatives completed by graduate assistants.
The Assistant Director - AEOD must have exceptional skill in organization and project management, clear communication skills (written and oral), and adapt quickly to various projects that vary in scope, audience and context.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum five (5) years relevant experience in administrative or project management analysis with strong organization management skills. Direct experience working with educational programs in higher education. Master’s Degree in related field of Student Affairs, Student Development, Higher Education preferred.
Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail and the ability to summarize research and analysis into concise and relevant documents and presentations.
Strong policy analysis experience.
Ability to assess a broad spectrum of organizational needs and job-related demands, establish priorities, delegate, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient in using personal computers and MS Office Suite for word-processing, spreadsheets, database processing, reporting, presentations, web and publication design.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
Skill in independently researching, compiling, organizing, interpreting and selecting data andmaterials from various sources. Ability to extract and analyze information from large databases.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Ability to refocus quickly from one activity or role to another and change priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
Demonstrated sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Skill in active listening and critical thinking.
Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional associates across multiple departments, including cross-functional teams with members from both business and technical units.
Ability to provide alternative actions or solutions from new information as researched or developed.
Ability to scan the landscape of the division and campus in order to anticipate trends and issues and gather information on these topics that will assist senior VCSA leadership.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
