DESCRIPTION
The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego is committed to excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Department is recruiting a Fellow with a strong interest in education and academic medicine to join our multidisciplinary and fast-growing program.
The Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery at UC San Diego provides patient care at the cardiovascular institute located on its main campus in La Jolla, CA. The program has had exponential growth over the last decade, and is recognized as a national and international leader in the field of cardiovascular disease. The Division performs over 150 thoracic transplants and is part of a comprehensive solid organ transplant program at UCSD. The transplant programs are part of innovative trials including DCD and ex Vivo perfusion. The division also provides clinical practices in multiple locations across the region. Our team is comprised of outstanding faculty and staff committed to patient care, education, research, and quality initiatives.
The Division is recruiting an advanced fellow with strong interest in adult Cardiothoracic Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory support programs. Ideal candidate will also be proficient in all other areas of adult cardiac surgical practice, typical in a quaternary referral center.
Qualified candidates must have an MD or DO degree and be Board-certified or Board-eligible in Thoracic Surgery within one year of appointment. They must also be able to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the state of California.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
