DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the medical director, the program coordinator will work closely with Physicians, RNs and APPs to manage all administrative aspects of the congenital heart disease program. Key duties include: initial referral intake; referral tracking and management; patient registration; obtaining medical records and importing into EMR; insurance authorization; scheduling clinic visits; coordination of other tests and procedures.
The position will play an integral role in the development of this growing program, such as; assisting with the national accreditation of the program, building relationships with referring physicians' office staff, and helping coordinate patient support groups. Incumbent is a primary point of contact for patients coming into the congenital heart disease program and will be expected to provide the highest level of service to our patients, staff, and providers. The coordinator will be a representative of UC San Diego Health and must exemplify UCSD's core values. May perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an administrative/hospital assistant; two (2) years of which were in a healthcare setting.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Proven knowledge and skill in computer software applications (specifically Microsoft Office).
Demonstrated knowledge of surgery, procedure, and clinic scheduling and authorization.
Must be fluent in English for both oral and written communication.
Strong ability to interact well with all patients.
Excellent customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Clinical office management or related experience.
- Experience with EPIC.
- Knowledge and skill in using iShare.
- Bilingual in both Spanish and English.

- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $40,700 - $85,295 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $19.49 - $40.85
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
