This is a 100% Contract position until July 2022 that may be extended or converted to career status based on the needs of the department.

DESCRIPTION

Seventh (7th) College is the newest of the undergraduate Colleges at the University of California, San Diego. The staff provide programs and services that support the academic mission of the University by enhancing the educational, personal, cultural, and social development of students.

Using professional student services theories and concepts, performs a limited range of duties and responsibilities within a Student Life program. Works independently to provide information and interpretation of clearly defined policies, procedures and regulations. Receives direction regarding more complex issues and / or program(s). Identifies individual student needs for programs and services and advises on appropriate programs and resources.

  • This position will often be required to work outside the traditional 8:30am - 4:30pm workday with frequent nights and weekends required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with university housing operations.

  • Experience collaborating with administration on student focused groups and projects.

  • Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Experience handling sensitive situations.

  • Ability and willingness to follow CDC guidelines pertaining to COVID-19 and best practices related to Quarantine and Isolation housing

  • Knowledge of University processes and procedures. Attention to detail and strong administrative skills. Ability to develop new methods and procedures

  • Interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and develop relationships with students and be a positive role model for students. Effective, professional oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.

  • Understanding of University rules and regulations. Able to interpret and apply practical solutions to issues as they arise consistent with University policies

  • Skills in service orientation, active listening, critical thinking. Ability to work within diverse groups. Proven workplace professionalism, including a high personal standard for confidentiality

  • Abilities in problem identification, reasoning. Effective organizational and analytical skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, verbal communication, written communication and organization skills. Effective, professional oral and written communication skills. Willingness to work independently and as a member of a larger team

  • The ability to interact and be around people, with personal protective equipment, who have tested positive for COVID-19 or been exposed to people who have tested positive


Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
