DESCRIPTION

The Rady School of Management provides business education through its undergraduate minors and courses, multiple Masters degree programs, and its PhD program.

This brand new Rady School of Management position's overall goals are to promote employment and networking opportunities for UC San Diego Rady School of Management graduate business students and to expand the UC San Diego Rady School network through international employer engagement outreach.

This position reports directly to the Director, Rady School of Management Career Center and works collaboratively with internal and external partners to establish and sustain the growth of the UC San Diego Rady School of Management international employer network. The position works across all Rady graduate business degree programs and works collaboratively with the Rady career advisor team and the Rady executive academic program directors of the MBA, Masters of Finance, Masters of Science in Business Analytics, and Masters of Professional Accountancy.

The position is the gateway for international employers seeking to learn more about the capabilities of Rady School of Management graduate business students. The position promotes the employment potential, academic accomplishment, and work histories of Rady School of Management graduate business student, identifying employer hiring needs and collaborating with Rady career advisors, Rady academic/executive directors of individual Rady degree programs, and others to coordinate outreach efforts to international employers/alumni.

Specifically, this position engages the international employer community in programs and services; creates new international employer relationships, develops annual employer outreach plans, and collects data and produces reports reflecting international employer outreach outcomes.

This position collaborates with other Rady career advisors and campus career staff to create joint networking opportunities with employers. Occasionally, this position provides career advising to individuals/groups and works in tandem with UC San Diego Rady School of Management career advisors to create (or participate in) events geared to graduate business students regarding employer networking, mentorship programs, panel discussions, industry profiles, employment trends, etc.

This position also may collaborate with the UC San Diego central career services and the UC San Diego alumni engagement offices.

Must be willing and able to travel locally and nationally. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience representing a university or similar organization to establish or strengthen international alumni/employer linkages;

  • Experience working with international students, ideally from China and/or Asia. Knowledge or experience of CPT/OPT requirements; experience advising students on career planning based on CPT/OPT requirements and employment prospects.

  • Diplomatic, engaging, and professional communication skills to establish positive, fruitful professional relationships and rapport with employers and colleagues; a track record of soliciting and coordinating employer participation in university activities, ideally related to employment/careers/networking activities.

  • Current relationships with international employers paralleling the employment interests of graduate business students; experience promoting international alumni/employer participation in university activities related to career development, employment/internship, panel participation, mentorships, development, professional networking, etc.

  • Experience developing a strategic plan of action regarding employer outreach activities; experience evaluating employer outreach activities based on employment metrics, employer participation outcomes, industry representation.

  • Experience identifying and discussing employer hiring needs. Experience promoting the employment potential, academic accomplishment, and work histories of clients/students.

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the full spectrum of business development of alumni, employers, and corporate partners including critical analysis, establishment of new and management existing of academic/corporate relationships.

  • Experience working with career consultants/advisors. Experience working in tandem with career consultant/advisors to produce positive outcomes for alumni/employers/students including programming, outreach, mentorship programs, treks/site visits, competition/panel discussion participation, career exploration info sessions, etc.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications, tact and political acumen to effectively represent UC San Diego and the Rady School of Management. Rapport-building skills.

  • Knowledge of and experience establishing new employer relationships in a broad range of industries. Broad knowledge, understanding, and experience working across all major regions of California, especially San Diego, the Bay area, and Los Angeles, as well as other US regions.

  • Experience delivering presentations in person and online. Experience leading both inperson and Zoom meetings.

  • Data collection and data tracking: Experience collecting and entering data into online systems and spreadsheets; experience tracking outreach activities related to outcome measures (participation, employment).

  • Thorough knowledge of basic concepts, principles, and procedures of building and maintaining effective networking relationships with employers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, alumni, donors, and internal and key constituencies. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations.

Preferred:

  • Conversational knowledge in Mandarin; ability to/experience communicate in writing and in professional conversations in Mandarin or other Chinese languages.

  • Membership in NACE, MBACSEA, and/or SHRM in addition to local professional recruiting groups.

  • Master's Degree in related field highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of UC policies, procedures, programs related to career services, employer/ alumni engagement.

  • Experience in a graduate business school careers/corporate outreach role; familiarity with career paths pertinent to a graduate business school students, graduates, alumni. Familiarity with graduate business school degrees/curriculum

  • Experience with Handshake, 12Twenty, client management systems (or contact management systems).
