Reporting to the Vice Chancellor - Chief Financial Officer, Information Technology Services (IT Services) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO).

The Identity and Access Management group is part of our Information Assurance Office and is responsible for the digital identity lifecycle of members of the UC San Diego community, including alumni, affiliates, and guests. The portfolio of the team includes federation and directory services (e.g., Shibboleth, Active Directory), social identities, account creation and curation, as well as group management and access provisioning. The Identity Management Configuration and Integration Specialist is a critical member of the identity team responsible for ensuring that Identity and Access Management services meet the needs of our community while protecting essential academic, business, and research services from cyberattack. UC San Diego is in the midst of a major Identity Management replacement project, deploying a portfolio of open source and vended solutions to ensure our institutional mission can meet the growing and evolving needs of a world-class research University. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the management and integration of several components of our next generation identity management ecosystem
  • Responsible for a number of services as assigned, including - enterprise password management - multi-factor authentication - enterprise group management - service access provisioning - cloud account management (AWS, Azure, and GCP) Service management includes ensuring both the operation of the service in accordance with ITS service level agreements, as well as service facilitation.
  • Provides leadership, though working with a team of peers, in debugging, redesigning, recoding, and rearchitecting both legacy and contemporary identity management systems.
  • Works extensively with campus units, including the health system to ensure an effective transition away from legacy systems and integration strategies. Validate data feeds to Integration layer and proper functionality within our identity environment.
  • Under the direction of the Principal IAM architect, leads the analysis, requirements definition, design, and implementation of the rules controlling access to campus digital resources. Partners with the Principle Active Directory Engineer as well as other directory service managers (e.g., radius, ldap) to ensure the accurate representation of security and identity groups in those directories.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • In-depth knowledge of various areas of IT. Broad knowledge of the IT environment. Specifically identity or directory related technologies, such as LDAP, Grouper, Shibboleth, Active Directory, or Sailpoint identity management products.

  • Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation. Advanced knowledge of Required secure software development. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications.

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and abilities associated with system problem identification and resolution. Knowledge necessary to design, set up, operate and correct malfunctions involving technology systems. Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis

  • Proven advanced knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and Required application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Specifically with regard to on- and off-boarding,access provisioning, and auditing.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software. Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including experience securing server-based software. Demonstrated skill at analyzing and preventing security incidents of high complexity. Strong security skills for protecting the operating system, software, data and hardware.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Grouper or other portions of the Internet2 Tier stack of identity services.

  • Knowledge of SSO, Federation, SAML or related technologies
