The University of California, San Diego Health System seeks an individual with advanced knowledge in VMWare, Linux, Powershell, and Azure. The candidate should poses knowledge and experience using automations in VMWare VRealize Automation, Quest Active Roles, and/or experience with configuration management using desired state configuration, Ansible, SaltStack or SCCM. Significant experience working with authentication mechanisms as well as general Windows and Linux Server knowledge and administration.
In addition, the applicant will have implemented and administered complex automation scripts for dealing with Active Directory, Linux, VMware, or Azure tasks for daily administrative duties. The engineer will obtain requirements and work closely with the Enterprise IT Architect and the Hosting Team to deliver robust and secured solutions for common workflows and organizational projects. The incumbent will have a good background in technical writing and documentation.
The incumbent provides system design and integration proposals to integrate automation workflows with other enterprise systems, including ServiceNow, VMWare vRealize Automation, System Center Orchestrator and similar solutions.
The incumbent is a member of the Server Team, which includes supporting systems and servers including installations, upgrades, patches, as well as documentation with responsibility for the implementation, management, and maintenance of various system software products and hardware components that comprise enterprise physical and virtual computing infrastructure. Provides leadership in managing and supporting the systems/hardware infrastructure and associated resources. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for all applications and operating systems as part of the on-call rotation.
Incumbent will have advanced knowledge with a variety of software tools, including those related to support and implementation. The candidate provides consultation and knowledge transfer with respect to a variety of automation system and software components. General knowledge and experience running systems in the following areas is preferred: VMWare ESXi, Windows Server and Linux Servers (primarily Red Hat). Hardware knowledge of the following system types is preferred: Cisco UCS, Nutanix, Pure, and NetApp (SAN storage and blade server technologies). Support knowledge and expertise with Cloud Computing technologies such as Azure administration and implementation.
The candidate works with various parties to bring technical automation projects to completion as well as designing and managing automation services and integration of WMWare with various system platforms and related services.
Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training in design and deployment of complex IS systems, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training design and deployment of complex IS systems.
Professional experience and proven success performing systems integration and deploying complex systems integration solutions.
- Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience with Azure
- Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience using Powershell for automation of systems and user management
- Five (5+) or more years of relevant experience with VMWare administration
- Windows 2012, 2016 or 2019 and Linux administration experience
- Proficiency designing automation solutions in VMWare vRealize Automation or Quest Active Roles
- Proficiency in writing complex automation scripts dealing with Active Directory and Azure
- Proficiency with configuration management using Desired State Configuration, SaltStack, Ansible or SCCM
- Experience integrating automation via APIs and other programmatic hooks
- Experience with ServiceNow integration
- Knowledge of ITIL framework and ability to apply it daily
- Basic Knowledge of IT Project Management techniques/proces
- Experience writing queries with Microsoft SQL Server 2016+;
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
