The Epic Cadence Analyst, actively contributes to an innovative team dedicated to establishing a new foundation for advancing clinical delivery and quality outcomes. Incumbent is an expert in the Cadence Prelude field, with an in-depth knowledge of the Epic EMR software, as well as medical center operations and workflows. Works closely with the project team's clinical leaders to translate business needs into EMR functionality.

Positions at this level focus on analytical support and project management and have expert skills and understanding related to building data sets, master files and reports. The Epic Cadence Analyst creates unit testing and complex integrated testing scripts used to perform detailed quality assurance within multiple systems and applications prior to release of new functionality to end-users. Demonstrates an expert understanding of clinical workflows and conducts workflow analysis of existing systems.

Determines how best to maximize functionality to complement and improve those workflows within the new EMR system. Assess implementation strategies and the impact those strategies will have on workflows and operations. Responsible for reviewing vendor software releases and updates to determine features desired and then implement them within UCSD Medical Center's system(s). Assists in maintaining current test and training environments and participates in training end-users. Provides 7/24 problem management support and resolution for clinical systems.


  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.

  • Proven ability in workflow and data analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, quantitative methods, planning and gap analysis.

  • Experience and proven success in information systems implementation, development and support within a large-scale healthcare organization.

  • In-depth knowledge of organizational and project planning processes and ability to produce and maintain high quality planning documents.

  • Ability to plan and organize day-to-day activities along with short and long-term projects.

  • Ability to effectively utilize system tools to meet functionality needs of users.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills.


  • Experience as a major participant in a clinical system implementation

  • Clinical background and experience that provides understanding of healthcare operations and basic medical records management.

  • Proven experience and proven expertise in problem-solving and debugging techniques.

  • Epic-Certified in EpicCare Cadence and Prelude preferred. Community Connect experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience and background in the Cadence/ABN field.

  • Implementation of Epic Cadence/Prelude module.

  • Demonstrated experience with Epic Systems' clinical systems products.

  • Proven ability in specification development, quantitative methods, system documentation and change management.

  • Ability to effectively use vendor-provided and/or other computing tools to tailor systems and applications to meet specifications and user requirements.

  • Ability to plan and organize day-to-day activities along with short and long-term projects.

  • Implementation or end-user experience with Revenue Cycle systems Healthcare experience.


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
