Jacobs Medical Center 5H is a 12-bed Neuroscience Progressive Care Unit specializing in Neurology, Neuro-Oncology and Stroke.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • Current ART certification, or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months of hire date.

  • Minimum six months of recent RN experience in a Neurology PCU or ICU. If insufficient applicant pool, department may consider candidates with minimum one (1) year prior acute care experience in Med/Surg, Telemetry or higher acuity including experience with neuro patients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSN.

  • RN experience in a Neurology ICU/PCU.

  • Experience working with neurology, neuro-oncology and stroke patients and/or working with the NIH Stroke Scale.

  • CCRN, NIH, PCCN, OCN certifications.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
