Under the direction of the Associate Director of Administrative Services, the incumbent is independently responsible for administration and management of the Triton Card Accounts Services Office, which includes up to $500,000 in Triton Card account deposits, approximately $25,000,000 in Fall/Winter/Spring session Dining Plan accounts, approximately $300,000 in Summer Session Dining Plan accounts, and approximately 21 million account swipes for Conference cards. The incumbent is responsible to provide program analysis and development in support of the business operations of Housing Dining Hospitality Department’s Administrative Services Division. This includes all student dining plans, all Triton Card accounts, Summer Conference Cards, Department Charge cards, outside sales, and any dining plans, credit or debit plans, development and implementation of marketing and outreach for the Triton Card account, business operations, vendor relations, and vendor contract maintenance. The incumbent is expected to create, maintain and foster positive new business relationships with outside vendors and bring that new business to the Triton Cash program. Incumbent is also responsible for management of the Point of Sale and Campus Wide ID software.

Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 7 divisions, with over 700 career employees, 1000 to 1200 student employees and an annual operating budget greater than $256 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 21,000 undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, staff and their families in over 400 buildings covering over 8 million sq. ft. HDH is in the midst of implementing an aggressive building plan which added 10,000 new beds in the next 10 years and will almost double our square footage by 2032.

Currently, HDH houses 38% of UCSD’s enrolled students with a goal of housing 65% by 2032. HDH provides maintenance and repair, contract meals/meal plan management, as well as retail food service, conference services, and catering services to residents, students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

  • Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database software. Knowledge of automated data processing and departmental systems, including analytical reasoning to develop additional uses for system and enhance existing system.

  • Working knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures. Knowledge of University personnel policies and procedures, including payroll timekeeping policies and procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of financial data management and reporting systems. Knowledge and demonstrated skill in accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of audit techniques. Analytical ability to work with statistics, calculations and percentages.

  • Skills to provide coaching and mentoring to support staff. Work team leadership skills to include the ability to hire, train, coach, and counsel both career and limited service staff to maintain high customer service standards.

  • Analytical ability to access workflow problems/procedures of the unit, to determine solutions, and to implement innovative changes. Skill and ability to analyze thoroughly, multiple details in an efficient and accurate manner.

  • Demonstrated skill and ability to analyze and modify display of computer data output on computer printouts and crt display.

  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge in data collection/verification to insure the accuracy of the reports generated from the system and workload responsibilities.

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to plan, organize, schedule and prioritize both long term and day-to-day operations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Proven ability to work with high volume and to adjust schedules to accommodate constant deadlines and changing priorities.

  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.

  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, vendors and campus partners in person, in writing, and on the telephone with a variety of people at all levels.

  • Demonstrated creativity and marketing skills to develop the Triton Plus program to student customers and their parents, vendors and campus staff.


  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on background check results.
  • Operating needs of the department require varied work schedules, (i.e., a.m., p.m. and/or weekend shifts and /or 10 hour workday).
  • Employees may be required to take off (vacation or temporary layoff) during scheduled operational shutdown periods, such as Winter, Spring & Summer breaks.
