This is a 100% limited temporary summer position only and does not extend past the summer program course offerings, which ends no later than July 28, 2023.

DESCRIPTION
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced training and development professional to resolve a wide range of training issues and needs assessments. Develops new training programs and works on complex training courses of diverse scope. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for delivering training and development programs. Classroom teaching experience preferred.
Trainers develop curriculum for specific academic subject areas as outlined in the TRIO federal grant, including math (basic algebra - advanced calculus), composition and literature, science with a lab or foreign language. Provide classroom academic enrichment to high school youth and in-class tutor training.
Trainers are expected to provide professional development in a 1-1 setting with tutors on a weekly basis. Trainers use experience working in diverse communities with low income, first-generation college-bound youth, to develop training modules for young professionals to gain and develop tutoring skills as part of the Upward Bound summer program. Academic content is delivered directly to students in a classroom setting.
For Science we are looking for someone that can teach a lab component with your subject; any science subject, preferably one not taught in the high schools, must have a lab; Past class examples: Volcanoes, Electromagnetism, Fluid Mechanics, Plant Biology, Marine Life, Sea Turtles, Drug Design, Computer Science
Summer Training Dates: Tuesday June 20th, 9:00am - 4:30pm at UCSD
Program Dates: Must pick 1 option from below & Must Indicate what Subject within Science You Prefer to Teach:
UBC 1 (Southbay) - at UCSD campus (Mon - Thurs) July 3rd - July 13th (no classes on July 4th), 1:00pm - 2:50pm, Pay Rate: $2,600
UBC 2 & UBMS 1 & UBMS 2 (East County & Central SD) - at UCSD (Mon - Thurs) July 17th - July 27th, 1:00pm - 2:50pm, Pay Rate: $2,600
For Foreign Language we are looking for someone that can teach be innovative and emphasize cultural understanding and basic introduction to the language
Summer Training Dates: Tuesday June 20th, 9:00am - 4:30pm at UCSD.
Program Dates: Must pick 1 option from below and indicate the Foreign Language you wish to teach.

For Composition and Literature (English) we are looking for someone that can teach creative writing, including with an ethnic studies emphasis or argumentative writing.

QUALIFICATIONS
Extensive knowledge of the teaching profession in one of the following high school level subject areas: Math (basic algebra - advanced calculus), Composition and Literature, Science with a lab component, or Foreign Language. Ability to interpret education materials and the most current research regarding classroom practice and educational standards.
Thorough knowledge of functional area and understands how work may impact other areas. Ability to work within a fast-paced environment, apply federal regulations to scope of work as trainer and instructor; act as a leader within the program staff.
Thorough knowledge of training and development, performance management and workplace learning. Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes.
Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Ability to develop professional development curriculum for tutor training. Skill in small group and individualized instruction.
Basic knowledge working with a diverse student population, and sensitivity to culture, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation and socio-economic status.
Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and strong presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to schedule, organize and prioritize workload to meet fluctuating course schedules, deadlines and timeframes. Ability to function calmly and effectively in a variety of environments.
Strong skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new training courses to meet organizational needs.
Strong skills in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective delivery of training.
Thorough knowledge of current training programs and trends.
Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
Thorough knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
Thorough knowledge of delivering training programs and thorough knowledge of other areas of human resources.
Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies.
Experience working with a broad range of educational professionals. Ability to work collegially with program administrators and other instructors.
Classroom teaching experience preferred.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be willing to provide own transportation to assigned site.
May be assigned multiple locations. Must pay for parking if assigned to work at UC San Diego.
This is a temporary summer job only and does not extend past the summer program course offerings.
Must sign the UCSD CANRA Form as a California Mandated Reporter.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 - $53.45
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
