Assignments typically last 3 - 6 months. Compensation: $17.82 /hour plus vacation, sick, and holiday pay. Full time, part time, and varied schedules available.
This position provides front-line customer relations, cross-functional support and performs a variety of duties related to the delivery and processing of U.S., campus mail, and bulk mailings in accordance with campus, local and federal US Postal Services (USPS) rules and regulations. Will use mail processing equipment or manual methods of sortation and distribution providing rotational support across multiple sections as assigned.
Sort letters, flats, and parcels to appropriate box or bin and utilize package tracking software for accountable mail and parcels. Sort incoming mail by mail code, address indicated at all mailroom locations.
Organize and sort mail to appropriate recipient (mail code or box holder).
Scan parcels and accountable mail into database using package tracking software. Ensure packages are placed in correct bin/shelf. Deliver mislabeled packages to other mailrooms.
Research mail and communicate with residents on wrong address. RTS or forward mail to Mail Services as needed for residents who have moved out or have incorrect address.
Record mail box number combinations on student combination cards and update combo tracking spreadsheet.
Maintain organization of mail and parcels to ensure efficient and timely handling during delivery.
-Maintain PO box Label assignments, bins and package areas.
Assist team in meeting daily production schedules by using the "hands-on" technique to support operations and insure all entities meet critical daily deadlines.
Independently respond to customer inquiries in person, phone, and email. Provide customized assistance to resolve urgent and atypical situations requiring specialized and insightful handling.
Work directly with customers and uncover pertinent information beyond what is typically presented by posing relevant questions to gain a thorough understanding. Independently consider any unique circumstance which may require guidance other than is routinely provided.
Use campus Principles of Community as guideline for relating to all internal and external customers.
Maintains flexibility and adheres to all customer service standards to include telephone and face-to-face interactions.
Advise customers regarding inquiries on: Sorting and Delivery, Student Mail
Answer multiple line telephones, assist callers with Graduate and Family Housing information and general campus information. Screen calls and route to appropriate offices/departments. Take and relay messages.
Sanitize and keep mailrooms organized. Place work orders or supply requests immediately with FBS, ITS, or housing office for any issues affecting materials, equipment or facilities.
Act as liaison for staff in reporting maintenance needs as related to mailboxes or facilities including emergency situations. Inform appropriate Graduate and Family Housing personnel; place calls to front desk when needed.
Greet, assist, and direct visitors to appropriate locations.
As needed, perform routine office duties.
Assemble packets/reports as needed. Assist in move in packet distribution.
Posting notices, unit and property inspections as needed.
Other clerical duties as assigned
Works well with student staff and professional staff ensuring positive and effective collaboration. Ability to work effectively with individuals, teams, diverse groups and the campus community in a service environment subject to frequent changing priorities.
Skill at following detailed oral and written instructions with minimal supervision.
Use of MS Office Suite applications, Intra/SCL, Persona, Maximo and other University applications relevant to position.
Positive attitude and initiative; Customer Service.
Skill at performing repetitive work according to varying work procedures, sequence and pace with excellent hand-eye coordination.
Ability to meet daily deadlines by evaluating workloads and re-organizing when necessary.
- Background and DMV check required.
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- CA Driver's License required-May need to work weekends and overtime.-Lifting/Carrying/Pushing: 0-50+lb Occasionally
