DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the Student Employment Supervisor, the Student Employment Analyst will provide subject matter expertise and human resources guidance related to recruitment, classification, compensation and payroll for casual/restricted (student) employees. The incumbent will advise campus administrators, faculty and support staff on student employment policies and procedures, for an assigned group of departments. Instruct, advise and resolve issues related to personnel actions performed in the UCPath system. Responsible for comprehensive daily functions of the Off-Campus Federal Work-Study Program and the Federal Work-Study Reading and Math Tutor Program, requiring frequent contact with government, public and non-profit organizations. Initiate and cultivate collaborations with departments, staff, students and community partners. Design and present employment focused workshops and presentations for staff, faculty, students and community partners. Actively participate in on-and off-campus outreach and serve as a representative of the University. Serve as back-up to the Student Employment Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or an equivalent combination of experience and/or training. Basic knowledge of human resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures. Proven knowledge of a Human Resources Management System (HRMS), and/or other related business software programs and systems.

  • Experience in interpreting policies and procedures, analyzing data and drawing conclusions, and making recommendations to implement changes for improvement. Working knowledge of the different areas of HR.

  • Familiarity with recruiting practices and processes; familiarity with Payroll timekeeping practices and procedures.

  • Skilled at resolving conflicts with creativity and authority while maintaining a professional demeanor. Demonstrated experience advising on employee relations issues preferred.

  • Proven ability to identify and assess training needs for individual employees and groups. Ability to produce comprehensive training programs based on training needs. Knowledge of staff development and resources.

  • Strong ability and knowledge of personal computer platforms and software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio and Outlook, and Adobe/PDF to create documents such as letters, memos, spreadsheets, pivot tables, fillable forms, and reports to streamline work for effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations. Proven ability to develop, analyze and administer program and project objectives, work with others in achieving organizational goals and evaluate work accomplishments. Ability to research, gather and organize information to produce clear and concise reports.

  • Excellent skill in public speaking and presentations. Ability to lead and facilitate effective group activities with poise and confidence.

  • Experience leading collaborative teamwork. Skill working collaboratively with individuals and groups, including evaluating issues, resolving conflicts, developing options, proposing solutions and coordinating implementation. Demonstrated competency and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

  • Strong written communication skills, using correct English grammar, spelling, punctuation. Ability to compose and proof letters and memoranda utilizing appropriate formats and styles.
