DESCRIPTION
Working in alignment with the Jacobs School of Engineering Dean's Office, the Strategic Initiatives & Assessment Senior Analyst will play a key role in developing and implementing methods for assessing the impact of the IDEA Engineering Student Center initiatives and programs on student retention and success.
Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of analytical practices, policies and procedures, the incumbent researches, analyzes, develops and implements assessments of student retention and success at the Jacobs School of Engineering. These activities include facilitating workshops on student learning, co-development of instrumentation and assessment design with stakeholders, and contributing to the scholarship of post-secondary educational assessment through publications in peer-reviewed literature. As a member of the Jacobs School of Engineering professional team, the Strategic Initiatives & Assessment Senior Analyst is expected to provide learner assessments at the level of course and of program, as well as program evaluation analyses aligned with best practices in student success.
Incumbent must have a clear understanding of the Center’s retention and academic programs and provide oversight and direction based on assessment as well as a good understanding of national efforts on access, diversity, and retention in STEM fields. Together with the Executive Director for Student Success (EDSS) of the IDEA Engineering Student Center, the Associate Dean of Students of the Jacobs School of Engineering, and the Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering, the incumbent will provide support for the vision for the Jacobs School of Engineering undergraduate and graduate initiatives that support educational excellence and student success.
Reporting to the Executive Director for Student Success of the IDEA Engineering Student Center, and in partnership, the incumbent will provide support and direction for creating an environment in which assessment activities are understood and practiced for ongoing improvement. The incumbent will develop strategic assessment plans for academic programs, provide expertise in determining assessment methods, opportunities, and tools necessary for program-level assessment, and effectively use findings to promote program revisions and improvements.
Integral to this position is the ability to work collaboratively with IDEA Engineering Student Center staff in the development of appropriate student success outcomes at the course and program level; develop and maintain assessment resources; and participate in committees and working groups dedicated to advancing educational excellence at the Jacobs School of Engineering by developing consensus about learning outcomes and agreeing on actions to improve or innovate educational practices.
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are complex in nature and diverse in scope. Develops new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in higher education administration, social sciences, research/statistics, business, or public administration with five year's work experience in higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses. Proficiency in organizing and reporting data with strong attention to detail and accuracy and ability to solve complex research methodology. Experience in interpreting and evaluating research results.
Demonstrated knowledge in the theory and practice of qualitative and quantitative academic assessment in higher education.
Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Demonstrated ability to organize workload and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong policy analysis techniques.
Ability to work on a diverse campus and with all members of the campus community (students, faculty, staff), and a demonstrated commitment to cultural competence within an academic setting
Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues, with service-oriented attitude and actions. Demonstrated initiative and ability to lead and persuade others.
Knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques; statistics or social science research techniques; knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA).
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
This position is eligible for a Hybrid flexible work arrangement, which could include a non-standard work schedule, and/or the ability to work off-site part of the time.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 - $53.45
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
