This is a part-time 40% limited position for 1 year with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.

DESCRIPTION

As a working team leader in a Starbucks retail operation, contributes to the University Centers success by providing legendary customer service to all customers, Responsibilities include merchandising, stocking, barista, customer service, food production, on-the-job training and quality control.

Creates the Starbucks Experience for all customer by providing customers with prompt service, quality beverages and products, and maintain a clean and comfortable store environment. Basic responsibilities will include any or all of the following: problem-solving in a timely manner, food production, customer service and complaints, data entry, use of Outlook for email and scheduling, placing orders online and by phone, handling staff shortages, equipment and personnel. Will follow established procedures in the absence of the supervisor. In coordination with their supervisor, will be responsible for food production, customer service, controlling labor hours and merchandising.

Starbucks will require varied hours/schedules depending on the needs of the department (i.e., a.m., p.m., and/or weekend shifts and/or 6-8 hour workdays). Summer hours will be from 7 am -7 pm Monday - Saturday. This will include opening and closing shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with food and beverage production in which tasks are organized and scheduled for quality food production in accordance with food production (Starbucks) standards and time frames.

  • Experience with job training of staff on any or all of the following: barista, food production, customer service, cash handling, portion control, sanitation and safety, operations, and merchandising of products. High-volume retail coffee experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated initiative to 1) identify unit-level problems and/or needs; 2) develop solutions and/or needs proposals; 3) and implement action plans with limited assistance and input.

  • Exceptional Customer Service and leadership skills with temperament and skill to provide an open climate and create opportunities for employee communication and

  • Ability to operate an electronic cash register/Point-of-Sale system and prepared daily sales summaries and deposits.

  • Working knowledge of the automated retail business systems. Proficiency in the use of personal computers and standard office applications.

  • Mathematical, accounting, and cashiering skills to operate cashier, interpret financial data, and monthly reports, and make recommendations and proposals for retail prices.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills to effectively manage time.

  • Skill and ability to handle stressful situations, multiple deadlines, and difficult people in a calm professional manner.

  • Knowledge and ability to effectively utilize employees and equipment in daily routines as well as unforeseen emergencies.

  • Basic computer knowledge and skills to perform data entry of usage and waste tracking into the online database.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact and communicate positively with other staff, and customers. Includes the ability to build relationships and work as part of a team.

  • Writing skills to communicate procedures, evaluations, and recommendations to management.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, research and solve a wide range of work-related problems.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Health codes require prescribed uniform, hair covering, and good personal hygiene.
