DESCRIPTION

The Senior Manager oversees and manages day-to-day operations and development of the Director's Office community and industry-related program portfolio and teams. Provides strategic and operational recommendations necessary to achieve financial and strategic success and builds the mechanisms to track statistics and apply measurement methods to gauge project success. Analyzes project needs, structures, and policy directives. Develops internal administrative policies.

Identifies and researches new opportunities for initiatives; performs due diligence, opportunity assessment and anticipatory research on pending or potential strategic opportunities. Identifies goals and creates program timelines. Develops a robust communications plan to push the Director's Office initiatives and basic models out via Design Lab channels. Develops and proposes persuasive strategies outlining plans for research collaborations. Administers major program components, and some or all of the program's operational requirements. Develops and organizes conferences and other public forums. Works under the direction of the Director and Associate Director to establish the center agenda, objectives, roadmaps, and funding.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong demonstrated experience administering programs, including budgeting, fiscal management, marketing, promotion, program revision, expansion and evaluation.

  • Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.

  • Excellent ability to clearly and concisely present ideas, concepts and detailed technical information in a multidisciplinary setting, and to funding organizations and representatives as well as to those possessing minimal technical backgrounds.

  • High level of political acumen, diplomacy, professionalism, and integrity to act appropriately and with sensitivity in a culturally diverse environment.

  • Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated strong experience in developing research plans and in writing and securing contracts, grants and/or other support from public and private funding sources.

  • Academic background and experience in selected area of research preferred.

  • Experience facilitating communications with faculty and researchers across a broad range of disciplines and cultures. Ability to identify and promote research excellence of programs.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Skilled communicator: includes verbal and written, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills. Ability to use discretion and respect confidentiality.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.

  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.

  • Solid fundraising experience.

  • Excellent ability to establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues, faculty, donors, and industry partners, with an emphasis on collaboration, tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion.
