DESCRIPTION
UC San Diego Health Human Resources (HHR) has an opportunity for a Sr. HR Shared Services Advisor to support the HR needs for over 14,000 employees through HHR’s centralized HR centers of expertise, HR case management technology and HR shared services. The Sr. HR Shared Services Advisor builds and maintains effective relationships within HHR, with key stakeholders and with an understanding of the employee’s perspective regarding HHR, to identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives related to HHR processes and services.
This position is responsible for providing higher level analysis, service recovery and use of customer service metrics to ensure the HHR main phone line and HR website (ServiceNow) meet the needs of UC San Diego Health's employees and managers. Through the administration and updating of the HHR Knowledge Base (KB), this position will work collaboratively throughout HHR to partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) regarding employee and manager direct access to policies and the effectiveness of the KB articles. The Sr. HR Shared Services Advisor will work closely with HR leadership regarding communication, training and documentation of standard operating procedures and service level agreements to ensure HR services are effective, efficient and able to meet the demands of the organization. HHR also works closely with UCPath, a centralized payroll/benefits/HRIS organization supporting all UC locations, and the Sr. HR Shared Services Advisor will be involved in various UCPath projects which require testing of HR technologies (PeopleSoft, SaleForce) through analysis and planning, participate in testing plans, and document results. The Sr. HR Shared Services Advisor is a key player in ensuring the HHR service model is forward thinking, constantly improving and supports the organization’s mission.
Key Responsibilities:
- Experienced with in-depth understanding of HR shared services, service metrics, service level agreements and lean methodologies for efficient HR processes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME)/escalation for HR Operations and serve as a lead by guiding HHR team members and clients on sensitive and difficult to resolve work-related problems.
- Monitor requests, service metrics and help resolve identified issues/prevent further problems.
- Prioritize work assignments, conduct complex HR trends analyses and develop recommendations, working to determine a solution for the team and HHR organization as a whole.
- Serve as a reviewer/approver for HRIS actions for all new hires/rehires.
- Perform case management system remediation work, maintenance and manage defects/enhancements for continuous improvement.
- Assist/collaborate in providing training, creating training documents and reference materials such as PowerPoint presentation slides, job aids, or standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Administer and maintain the knowledge base in the case management system for consistent and accurate content.
- Independently perform the full range of responsibilities within the function; possess broad job knowledge; analyze problems / issues of diverse scope and determine solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.
Experience and proven success in a Human Resource related function. Knowledge of general employment, employee relations, benefits, classification, compensation, and performance management.
Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas.
Strong time management, organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Strong writing skills with experience in writing job aids, standard operating procedures (SOPs), or other instructional content.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience using PeopleSoft.
- Experience working in a HR Shared Services model.
- Experience with a centralized call center environment.
- Experience with ServiceNow or other case management system.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 - $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 - $59.53
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
