This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Greenwich Dr. and remote.

DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of the IT Director, serves as the System Administrator for Kick It California. Designs, develops, manages, and enhances network configuration, and uses best practices to secure the LAN and cloud environments against possible threats. Responsible for installing and administrating Windows, Ubuntu and CentOS Linux on both dedicated and virtual environments. Responsible for installing, supporting and troubleshooting desktop and laptop computers in a network environment with up to 120-160 users. Provides hands-on support for client-server applications, desktop applications, web-based applications and all network devices. Acts as Tier 1 help-desk support, coordinates IT department trouble/fix reports, and manages Help desk workload. Assists the software development team in troubleshooting, debugging and modifying applications, as needed. Works with users and provides end-user support and training. Evaluates new technologies including cloud related solutions and performs simple to moderate cost / benefit analyses.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

  • Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.

  • Advanced knowledge of computer security best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software.

  • Experience with network security, firewall and anti-virus software.

  • Experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting PC hardware and software.

  • Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs.

  • Demonstrated skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs. Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions.

  • Basic knowledge of how to apply technologies and systems to meet business needs.

  • Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.

  • Experience in migrating on premise applications and solutions to AWS.

  • General knowledge of other areas of IT. Thorough understanding of and experience with systems-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.

  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration.

  • Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft system policy. Strong knowledge of database programming and client-server application development.

  • Experience with remote access (VPN) configuration and management.

Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: $63,400 - $142,800 Annually

The University of California, San Diego is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, relevant qualifications, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
