DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Director of Advancement Systems and Business Intelligence (Dir-ASBI), the Prospect Analyst provides reliable and timely high-level qualitative and quantitative data and trend analysis that supports the strategic planning and operational effectiveness of key fundraising programs, including annual, major, principal, and planned giving. Specifically, the incumbent studies internal and external data and employs data mining, predictive modeling, forecasting, and/or statistical analysis techniques to provide information, knowledge, coordination, and tools that support the campus in achieving its private fundraising goals, as well as to provide assessments of Advancement program effectiveness.
More specifically, responsibilities include but are not be limited to:
Fundraising Reporting: In consultation with Director, generate and maintain reports illustrating overall, and unit specific results. Develop and produce performance reports for fundraising operations including YTD progress toward goals, comparison with prior period and annual reporting. Develop and produce campaign progress reports in terms of dollars raised, pipeline, portfolio capacity and development officer activity. Implement ‘self-serve’ results delivery system. Partner with Senior Management, Director, and Prospect Management Liaisons to determine organizational information and reporting needs.
Fundraising Analysis: Assess and provide concise, actionable and accurate analysis of fundraising operations. Utilizing available data, respond to management analysis needs by developing strategic plans, forecasts, business cases, cost benefit analysis, ROI calculations, and any other analysis required in support of fundraising operations.
Prospect Identification Utilizing appropriate quantitative techniques which may include statistical modeling, provide targeted prospect lists to Development Officers to balance and or augment portfolio mix. In partnership with senior management, prospect management liaisons and front line fundraisers, determine appropriate characteristics to associate with top prospects. Develop and implement appropriate tracking and metrics in support of modeling efficacy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices. Demonstrated experience in business analytics. Ability to understand complex relational data structures.
Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
Demonstrated experience in querying, cleansing and manipulating large data sets.
Advanced knowledge of analytical techniques, advanced knowledge of SQL or other structured language, and advanced knowledge of Excel required.
Proven ability to leverage knowledge of data needs, data sources and data solution technologies to provide clients with accurate and timely (often real-time) prospects, results and analytical reports.
Proven ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues.
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of philanthropy, sales or marketing.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop effective solutions. Demonstrated ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies and procedures; separate problems from symptoms; identify potential solutions; apply solutions and formulate logical and objective conclusions from data and observations; communicate conclusions to a variety of personnel at various levels.
High degree of professionalism, ethical sensitivity and discretion. Proven ability to maintain a commitment to confidentiality.
Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities. Ability to maintain accuracy and focus with attention to detail in fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
Adept in ability to learn quickly, apply creativity, understand complex processes and procedures, prioritize workload, set and meet deadlines, and perform well with a minimum of direct supervision.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner, and explain analytical result sets to both internal and external audiences at all levels.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a broad range of professional and technical staff. Professional, highly-developed interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, flexibility and skills in dealing with politically sensitive situations required.
Demonstrated skill in understanding of quality service and group process with proven ability to work as part of a team and build consensus and collaboration. Ability to lead, mentor, and train others. Willingness to share skills and techniques with peers and colleagues.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $63,400 - $142,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $30.36 - $68.39
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
