DESCRIPTION

This position serves as one of the Senior Developers on the Student Information Services (SIS) team. Senior Developers take lead roles in application implementations, incident resolution, and represent the SIS Team on a variety of projects in the portfolio. Senior Developers are often consulted on technical architecture and may assist other team developers with the more complex aspects of their work. They may also act as SIS representatives on various cross-department committees representing the needs of the SIS team and act as an expert on student systems. Senior developers should be familiar with all aspects of the SDLC and be prepared to play a role in analysis, design, testing, implementation, ongoing support of SIS applications and supported systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Applications Development - act as a lead team member in both new projects and support of legacy applications. Participate in highly complex implementations working with different platforms/systems across the organization (e.g. Identity Management, Data Integration, Cloud Technologies)
  • Senior Troubleshooter - provide consultation and/or fixes for tier-3 support issues. Act as a significant participant in SIS Major Incidents.
  • Implementation Support - provide support in a variety of aspects in project implementation including interfacing with the ITS Build and Release Team, QA Team, and Data & Platforms Teams.
  • Applications Consultant - provide support for team and projects, create system and data architectural diagrams. Be familiar with OCM practices and assist in smooth rollout of new/updated/enhanced applications.
  • Security & Compliance - Assists in the implementation and compliance of security and privacy standards conforming to federal, state, UC, and organizational policies and regulations.
  • Employee must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Employee must be available to travel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced knowledge/skills associated with software specifications, design, modification, and deployment of enterprise-class applications.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of modern secure software development practices including supporting platforms both on-prem and in-cloud.

  • Project leadership skills for all levels of the SDLC from requirements gathering to deployment and support. Ability to work within industry standard PM practices (e.g. Agile/Waterfall)

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting tools (e.g. App Dynamics, Datadog, Splunk) and how to use them in a complex enterprise environment to forecast possible problems or resolve performance or outage incidents.

  • Familiar with how to write and implement test plans. Understanding in automated testing implementations.

  • Skills in working with Build & Release through CICD pipelines and how to optimize software development in these environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt Certification
  • Familiarity with Student Data Regulations (e.g. FERPA, UC IS-3 Standards)

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $71,000 - $160,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $34.00 - $76.63

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
