DESCRIPTION

This position serves all UCSD Radiology modalities including MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Breast Imaging and Diagnostics at multiple UCSD locations. The workflow of this position may include caring for a high volume of patients per day in radiology setting, assisting anesthesia provider during imaging study, assuming care of outside facility patients from transport RN for imaging study, and providing oversight of LVNs in Radiology setting.
The Radiology RN will be working with patients receiving radioactive isotopes and requires utilization of dosimeter to monitor safe levels of radiation exposure. This position services all Radiology modalities and will float to areas within the department on an as needed bases, this can include floating to all locations.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
RN License issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Minimum of two (2) years of RN experience in ICU, IR or ER to include recent experience working with cardiovascular patients on a cardiac unit, radiology unit, or acute care setting utilizing telemetry.
Must be proficient in IV skills and ability to complete competency for central line access.
Ability to complete competency in cardiac monitoring, knowledge of pacemaker modes, care of patients under anesthesia for imaging study, and Medication Administration per UCSD policy.
*Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.
Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results.
Must have excellent skills to communicate and influence effectively with all disciplines of staff including technologists, LVNs, physicians & advanced practice providers, and patients, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to critically handle unexpected challenges in a radiology setting and create solutions with a patient-centered approach.

- BSN.
- Epic Radiant EMR Experience.
- Charge Nurse Experience.
- Port Access Competency.
- Ultrasound IV Competency.
- Certified Radiology Nurse Certification
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- This position will service all areas within Radiology as needed.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $160,839 - $160,839 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $77.03 - $77.03
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
