This program is multi-faceted and designed to support our New Grads with a comprehensive transition-to-practice experience through enhanced clinical learning, patient simulation activities, hands-on skill training and so much more!

Under general supervision, the New Grad RN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations. Directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned. Promotes compliance and support of policies. Achieves trust in professional collegial relationships.

  • Hillcrest 10E Medicine IMU/PCU - 2 openings
  • Hillcrest 11 PCU - 2 openings
  • Hillcrest Surgical ICU - 3 openings
  • Hillcrest Trauma PCU - 2 openings
  • Hillcrest ED - 2 openings
  • Hillcrest ED Inpatient - 1 opening
  • La Jolla ED - 2 openings
  • JMC 3F Neuro ICU - 2 openings
  • JMC 3GH Surg/Onc ICU - 2 openings
  • JMC 4FGH Surg/Onc PCU - 4 openings
  • JMC 5FG Med/Onc PCU - 2 openings
  • JMC 6FGH BMT PCU - 4 openings

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • California RN license by start date. Depending on applicant pool, may consider interim permits.

  • BART or BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date required for most units.

  • Emergency Department, Burn ICU/Special Care, and Surgical ICU: BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date. PALS required within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Labor & Delivery: BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. AWHONN Fetal Monitoring and NRP certifications.

  • Neonatal ICU: BART or BLS/CPR certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. NRP certification.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must have less than six (6) months of working RN experience.


  • BSN.

  • Externship/Internship/Preceptorship or prior clinical work experience in specialty area.

  • Bilingual.

  • Community service and/or volunteer work.


  • Must be able to work various hours, days of the week, shifts, and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
