DESCRIPTION

Involves the design and delivery of clinician (primarily nursing), professional/leadership development programs, policies, activities, assessment tools, and systems. Promotes excellence in patient care, through skill acquisition in evidence based nursing practice and clinical inquiry. Collaborates with nursing leadership to tailor programs and resources based on needs assessments. Meets the diverse requirements of the nursing units, patient populations, regulatory and accreditation and strategic goals of the organization/health system.
Applies skills and experience as a seasoned nurse educator to ensure optimal clinician knowledge and skills through education and training in either general or specialized nursing education and/or training. Serves as a preceptor for entry or intermediate Clinical Nurse Educators. Leads implementation of new programs.

This position can be filled as a CNE3 or CNE4 level depending on experience and qualifications.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.
Current ART certification, or BLS and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six months of hire date.
A minimum of three (3+) or more years of relevant experience (for CNE3 Level).
A minimum of five (5+) or more years of relevant experience (for CNE4 Level).
Demonstrated hospital management skills, with progressive expertise in patient care services.
Proven knowledge to manage disaster incidents, sentinel events and ability to problem solve with critical thinking skills.
Thorough knowledge of delivering clinical nursing education and training material for orientation and skills/competency learning and leadership development.
Demonstrated knowledge of a broad spectrum of professional nursing practices and issues.
Thorough knowledge of methodology for conducting evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage multiple levels of information and responsibilities, and to quickly assess moderately-complex problems to develop potential solutions.
Strong skills in written and verbal communications. Ability to collaborate productively in a team environment with all levels of internal and external personnel and to convey complex clinical information in a clear, concise manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide education, training, and resources, and to develop positive working relationships with nursing staff and leadership.
Technical leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues / problems without precedent and / or structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. (for CNE4 level).
Applies extensive knowledge of clinical education and training practices to develop and deliver education and training content for all levels of clinicians, primarily nurses, at the medical center. Mentors nurse educators and functions as a leader and information resource. Holds in-depth specialty knowledge within a nursing discipline. Leads or oversees the implementation of new programs (for CNE4 level).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Nursing or relevant area.
- Previous involvement with research projects and publications.
- Previous experience working as an Educator in Perioperative and Procedural services.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $78,900 - $179,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $37.79 - $86.16
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
