The Apheresis Nurse Supervisor is involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and / or provision of patient care delivery in assigned nursing unit(s) or area(s). Promotes environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students and others.
Supervises staff involved in providing clinical patient care. Assists in ensuring the quality of patient care delivery in a specific patient care area and serves as a role model for professional nursing practice. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. May assume full responsibility for the unit in delegated areas and in the absence of the manager.
The Outpatient Apheresis unit is located in La Jolla at the Koman Outpatient Pavilion on the third floor. We can accommodate 15 patients at a time from 8-1630, Monday-Friday with on-call emergency services from 1700-2200 M-F and 0800-2200 on Sat/Sun. We also provide outpatient services at the Moores Cancer Center (4 patients at a time) M-F as well as at our Hillcrest location (3 patients at a time). The unit at Koman Outpatient Pavillion is our permanent home.
RN License issued by the State of California.
BART or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Recent supervisory experience.
Three (3+) or more years of recent Apheresis experience.
Recent experience with Optia and Cellex devices.
- Experience with Amicus and Kaneka devices.
- Recent Apheresis experience to include experience with Stem cell, CART, TPE, LDL, Photopheresis, RBC exchange, WBC and Platelet depletion.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
