The Lead Revenue Integrity Specialist (RIS) will serve as a subject matter expert for the Revenue Integrity Specialist team and support the day-to-day activities of the Revenue Integrity Department. The position is responsible for performing various/routine audits for each functional area to ensure data integrity and compliance of charge capture guidelines and effectiveness. Champions standardization of charge capture process and ensures appropriate discipline-specific charge capture as it relates to government and commercial payer requirements. Performs charge review activities, industry best practice research, and identifies and deploys charge capture improvement initiatives. This position works collaboratively with the Revenue Integrity manager and other Revenue Cycle departments.

  • Performs routine QR audit of the Revenue Integrity Specialist team for appropriateness and accuracy of charge capture processes/actions. Prepares audit findings for management.
  • Performs WQ reviews, manual charge entry and/or corrections as needed and participates in special projects as assigned. Monitors, investigates and resolve revenue integrity concerns reported in service line areas and provide any necessary follow-up.
  • Participates in the redesign of processes and systems to improve service, data integrity, and staff productivity/quality to achieve departmental goals and process outcomes within revenue integrity.
  • Lead revenue integrity meetings and education or training programs in coordination with Revenue Integrity manager to track progress toward work plan activities and reactive tasks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine (9) years of directly related healthcare revenue integrity/revenue cycle experience/related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.

  • Active certification as a RHIA, RHIT and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from AHIMA, or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or CPMA from AAPC.

  • Extensive understanding of correct coding principles of CPT/HCPCS and facility modifier use, as well as CCI edits and billing guidelines required.

  • Experience and proven success in the practices, procedures, and concepts of the healthcare revenue cycle and its component operations, including billing, collections, charge capture, contractual adjustments, third-party reimbursements, and cash management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • EPIC user experience.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,400 - $142,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.36 - $68.39

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
