Under the direction and supervision of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Director, the Respiratory Therapist delivers all general pulmonary rehabilitation services to patients diagnosed with chronic lung disease. The Respiratory Therapist is required to possess knowledge in pathophysiology of various chronic lung diseases and understand disease specific diagnostic test results and utilizes this information to establish safe and efficacious pulmonary rehabilitation Individualized Treatment Plans. The Respiratory Therapist will apply critical thinking skills to screen and assess patients for safe, supervised targeted exercise.

Key functions include patient assessment, development of Individualized Home and Outpatient Exercise Treatment Plans, nutrition education, oxygen therapy education, six-minute walk test performance, and psycho-social support. The Respiratory Therapist will determine patient readiness for supervised and home exercise therapy and will apply evidence-based guidelines and recommendations to improve patient outcomes.


  • Two (2) year advance practice RT Education Program/AS Degree.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential as issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner License (RCP) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Must be skilled in working with aged and disabled patient populations.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly verbally and written and be able to articulate complex ideas for adult audiences.


  • Four (4) year degree in Respiratory Therapy or other related healthcare disciplines.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish


  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
