UCSD Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is growing in the diverse areas of professional educational programs, cutting-edge research, and pharmacy services. The main research areas specific to this position posting are bioinformatics and data science, with very close connections to bioanalytical chemistry, pharmaco-omics, and drug discovery and development.
Under supervision, the incumbent will independently implement nationwide GIS analysis, manage large health care datasets, create analytic data files by using programming techniques to extract and aggregate raw data, conduct statistical analyses, and document programming and results. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to lead the management of various research projects related to ArcGIS, SAS and/or R, participate in the drafting of research reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals as well as overseeing students’ programming and analyses for student research projects. In addition, the incumbent will train and supervise faculty and lab members to interact with the data and provide them with guidance and directions. The incumbent will exercise judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.- Performs other duties as assigned.
Six years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.
Working knowledge of research function.
Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design and data security measures.
Working skills in analysis and consultation.
Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
Experience in the execution of geographic information systems (GIS) analyses and regression analyses.
Demonstrated experience managing large health care administrative datasets
Demonstrated experience with Demonstrated experience with SQL, SAS, and Stata or R.
Demonstrated experience with ArcGIS.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing software and/or computational platforms to meet needs in the processing and visualization of health care data.
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office programs, word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software; willingness and ability to update and increase Mac/PC skills and knowledge as needed.
Demonstrated proficiency in communicating complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
