DESCRIPTION
The Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health (ID+GPH) within the Department of Medicine at UC San Diego aims to eliminate the burdens of infectious diseases and health disparities by delivering outstanding patient care, conducting world-class multidisciplinary health research, directing the institutional response to antimicrobial resistance, preventable healthcare associated infections, and emerging pathogens, and offering leadership, consultation and training on global public health, gender equity, microbiology, and infectious diseases topics.
Under direct guidance of senior researcher and project coordinator, applies acquired skills and knowledge of applicable research discipline to support field research projects of small to medium size and intermediate scope and complexity, including but not limited to research in public health, social or biological science disciplines.
The incumbent will provide research support that includes: conducting participant outreach and recruitment, obtaining informed consent, screening interested participants, conducting data collection, tracking participant enrollment and retention, conducting scientific literature reviews, assisting with the preparation of oral and poster presentations using appropriate graphic programs, formatting references for scientific papers, organizing quantitative and qualitative data, and developing and updating research project webpages. The incumbent will also participate in research team meetings, as needed, to discuss research project updates.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
Working knowledge of safety, legal, cultural and regulatory requirements relative to field research responsibility.
Working knowledge of research discipline, principles, concepts, analysis and / or operations being conducted at field / remote sites.
Ability to work with a team, and to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work in ambiguous conditions.
Proficient research and analytical skills.
Demonstrated communication skills with project team members.
Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships with remote research partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Working knowledge of local customs and operations at field / remote sites.
- Experience working with socially marginalized populations (e.g., people living with HIV, women with experiences of abuse) The top minimum qualifications are:

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $43,900 - $91,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $21.02 - $44.01
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
