This position will assist in the design, development and maintenance of the Core Bio Services website using using HTML, CSS, and SQL. Develop other department websites as required and maintain department web pages on Blink. Assist in the development and maintenance of the department's 4D transactional database using 4D and 4D server. Serve as assistant systems administrator for department's servers (Mac OS X and Linux) and clients (Mac OS X). Provide data backup support for department using NetVault. Update client and server software as required. Provide user support for department and affiliated departments.
Four (4) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area.
Basic knowledge of several areas of IT. Experience with multi-platform networks: software, protocols and hardware.
Basic knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Experience with the following applications: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office; 4D; 4D Server, Apple iApps, Firefox, ARD.
Ability to install software and troubleshoot basic problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Basic understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance.
Basic understanding of data management operations and database administration.
Basic knowledge of computer security best practices and policies. Ability to put knowledge into practice.
Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.
Experience with the following operating systems: Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, Linux.
Demonstrated experience with Database manipulation, query, and reporting skills in SQL and 4D.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and by email with co-workers, and hardware and software vendors. Ability to interact successfully with individuals at various levels in an organization.
