This is a 100% Contract position for one (1) year with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status, depending on funding availability and School needs.


The Process Improvement & Organizational Change Manager is assigned a portfolio of process improvement, projects portfolio management, and organizational change projects within the School of Biological Sciences. These can span any of the mission areas of the School from Administrative and Finance processes, to teaching and education, research or operations.

Projects range from simple improvement of relatively easy workflows, to leading reorganization and design of entire team structure, development of training to reinforce changes and development of daily management systems for monitoring of ongoing operations. Partners with Sr Managers and leaders to design process, projects and change that meet the needs of the unit to deliver value. Lead teams through process redesign, project implementation and change management. Projects are prioritized at the direction of Assistant Dean and/or Dean.


  • Graduation from college with a major in business administration, economics, statistics, or an allied field, and four (4) years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Has thorough knowledge of the organizational development and effectiveness field, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized organizational interventions.

  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of process improvement methodology such as LEAN Sigma Six.

  • Demonstrates analytical, problem-solving, project planning and implementation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Proven facilitation skills, including the ability to paraphrase, stack a conversation, draw people out, balance participation, ask open-ended questions, promote mutual understanding, cultivate shared responsibility and provide means to keep a group on track to achieve its goals in the time allotted.

  • Proven experience in implementation and management of strategic initiatives and projects. Experience supporting an organization in achieving its strategic business goals and operational needs.

  • Ability to coach, facilitate, and influence people.

  • Knowledge of various short and long range planning techniques in formulating plans for process improvement, project management skills, including establishing project objectives, determining and addressing potential barriers, identifying required resources, defining process steps and milestones and adjusting action plans to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Experience interviewing subject matter experts as part of the process mapping and business requirements definition phases of process improvement and technology solution projects.

  • Advanced proficiency with Google applications, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Word, and the ability to quickly master additional software as needed.

  • Demonstrated experience in change management and formal training in a change management methodology like CAP or PROSCI. Experience managing change at individual and organizational level.

  • Experience with process mapping and use of Lean Six Sigma tools and resources with teams.


  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
