This is a 100% Contract position for one (1) year with an expected duration of two (2) years and the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, which includes a combination of onsite and remote work.

DESCRIPTION
The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), a unit of campus Human Resources at the UC San Diego main campus, is a confidential assessment, counseling, and referral service provided by the University to assist campus faculty and staff, postdoctoral and visiting scholars, UC San Diego emeriti and retirees, as well as select members of an employee's household. This service provides an opportunity for employees to resolve personal and work-related concerns, to find effective referrals to community and health plan providers, and to increase their levels of productivity, work/life balance and satisfaction while reducing absenteeism, presenteeism, workplace stress and employee turnover.
Under close supervision, the Post-Graduate Clinic Associate/Behavioral Health Counselor Trainee will acquire the skills and knowledge needed to be successful within the scope of Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). The role will obtain hours required toward licensure and/or EAP certification used in the behavioral health counseling field.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree required in related mental health area or field from an accredited university, including the completion of at least one pre-degree clinical practicum training experience. Doctorate Degree preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and ethical standards associated with profession.
Acquiring knowledge associated with clinical counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards. Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing Techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy.
Acquiring knowledge of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Familiarity with Implementation of a Psychoeducation Curriculum.
Demonstrated knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights. Demonstrates Cultural sensitivity.
Demonstrated knowledge of business software and specialized applications/systems used in behavioral health settings.
Basic knowledge of electronic/medical records systems. Familiarity with Scheduling Software.
Assessment, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Ability to identify when to escalate issues and situations to senior providers.
Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to perform intake evaluations. Ability to work in a collaborative manner with diverse client group.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $37,900 - $85,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $18.15 - $40.85
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
