This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.
_The salary range for this position has been updated as of September 1st. Depending on qualifications and experience, the department generally looks to hire between $83,250 and $103,100.
DESCRIPTION
The Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI), an organized research unit at UCSD, is an NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) institution that provides the infrastructure to support high-quality and innovative translational research. ACTRI's vision is to translate scientific discoveries into improved health by delivering education, training and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area and beyond. Mike Hogarth, M.D. and Davey Smith M.D. are the principal investigators on ACTRI’s CTSA grant. The ACTRI functions under the direction of Gary S. Firestein, M.D., Director, and Senior Associate Vice Chancellor Health Sciences at UC San Diego.
The Center for Population Science & Community Engagement is designed to integrate distinct but complementary units within ACTRI to foster collaborative translational research with an emphasis on community-engaged initiatives.
The Center for Population Science (PopSci) & Community Engagement (CE) Lead Administrator will take a leadership role and leverage advanced operational concepts to resolve novel and complex issues keeping in line with the strategic goals of the organization helping to support the mission to eliminate health inequities. This position is the lead administrator for the programs, projects, and operations within the Center, including topics in community research partnerships, community health, dissemination & implementation, and the study of population health. Will support faculty leads in short- and long-term priorities and initiatives.
Strategic:
This position collaborates with leadership and faculty to develop the strategic framework for the Center. Leverages advanced operational concepts to analyze overarching highly complex and novel issues for the Center and presents solution-oriented recommendations to leadership and faculty. This role will foster faculty and staff engagement across all teams in the Center, leveraging appropriate change management theory to support the strategic goals of the organization and ensuring the teams are positioned to successfully adapt to changing needs of the communities they serve.
Works holistically with faculty and leadership to ensure programmatic and operational goals are in line with the mission and vision of the Center in addition to supporting the overall strategic goals of the organization. Support a culture of collaboration and dedication to interdisciplinary work that fosters efficiency of procedures and effective collaboration with community partners, allowing for authentic relationship building.
Operational:
Supports and facilitates channels of communication between Center leadership, community advisory boards, community partners, and other academic units. This position is responsible for developing and implementing inclusive events, workshops and seminars in-person, virtual and hybrid formats, in conjunction with other ACTRI staff.
Communicates new directives, policies, or procedures to support any change management efforts for specific teams or the Center as a whole. Assists with the dissemination and delegation of administrative duties that support the center to administrative staff. Point person for the Center to liaison with grant writing staff to ensure subunits deliver pertinent information for all upcoming grant submissions.
Uses advanced operational concepts and objectives to resolve highly complex issues. Regularly works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Primarily deals with programs and proposals with broad impact across the function, research initiative, program and / or organization. Develops and oversees the implementation of new programs and processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training.
Advanced knowledge of common organizational- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and influence, both verbally and in writing.
Advanced project management skills.
Thorough knowledge of organizational or initiative processes, protocols and procedures.
Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
Advanced knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.
Advanced analytical / problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to respond and adapt to new and changing situations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated knowledge of change management theory

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $63,400 - $142,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $30.36 - $68.39
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
