DESCRIPTION
In concert with clinical providers, the incumbent is responsible for the planning and coordination of administrative functions in the post kidney and liver transplant practice. Responsible for performing detailed office duties, including (but not limited to) registering patients, clinic and procedure appointment scheduling, authorization, and billing and insurance eligibility and verification. Serves as an administrative lead and key resource for patients, physicians, staff and inpatient/outpatient care service managers. Functions as an EXPERT for the department as a liaison between clinical and business operations.
Communicates procedures and medical evaluation times and locations with patients and family members as well as physicians, surgeons and nurse coordinators. Maintains and monitors Transplant Database. Performs a variety of other administrative duties in support of patient services. Manages and maintains complex calendars for meetings and appointments. Answer and triage incoming calls. Prepares and distributes clinic notes to referring physicians and medical records. Communicates with faculty, clinic staff, administrators, professional organizations, outside agencies (i.e., insurance companies, community medical groups). Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree or combination of education and experience.
Minimum of one (1) year administrative experience in a large, complex healthcare system or relevant experience.
Knowledge of medical center processes, protocols and procedures.
Experience performing technical, specialized, complex office administrative work requiring the use of independent judgment.
Advanced skill in MS Office: ability to efficiently draft correspondence in Word, create reports in Excel and develop professional PowerPoint presentations and conduct complex calendaring in Outlook.
Requires ability to multitask with demanding timeframes. Advanced service orientation and attention to detail.
Advanced skills in problem identification. Advanced analytical/problem-solving skills.
Excellent skills in collaboration, problem-solving, advising and counseling skills.
Strong skills to communicate and influence effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and external constituents, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to use a high level of discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor's Degree.
- Formal training in medical terminology.
- Working knowledge of Epic EMR.
- Patient scheduling experience.
- Bilingual - Spanish.

- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $60,009 - $60,009 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $28.74 - $28.74
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
