DESCRIPTION
Under direction, the Parking Office Customer Service Representative will assist faculty, staff and students with making the right selections for their parking needs. Provide information on all parking related functions of the campus as well as alternative transportation choices. Greet and assist faculty, staff, students, visitors, patients, and general public who come to UC San Diego to attend events such as conferences, seminars, meetings, performances, or social functions. Provide information to customers such as directions to various UCSD events and locations, and explain parking procedures, policies, and availability. Promote commuter programs and help plan, coordinate and implement Transportation events.
Conduct sales of parking permits. Assist customers who have been cited and instruct them on the appeal process. Accept citation payment via cash, check or credit card. Set up flex citation payment plan when necessary. Must accurately account for daily permit transactions including verification of sales and preparation of deposits, and maintenance of computerized and manual records, logs, and files. May be assigned to or provide back up support at various parking offices, kiosks, or information centers throughout campus and medical centers. Perform clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and faxing as necessary.
- Weekend shifts and overtime may be required. May be required to work different shifts, hours, or locations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Solid cash handling experience. Prior experience with Point of Sale Cash Register Systems and knowledge of standard cash reconciliation procedures. Skill in basic mathematical calculations with the ability to research transactions to resolve discrepancies within scope of responsibilities.
Solid listening, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to handle high volume, direct customer inquires from a diverse UC San Diego population in person, in writing, by telephone, and by email or electronic media. Ability to make decisions to resolve parking questions and concerns in a high volume workplace.
Demonstrated experience in record keeping with strict attention to detail. Ability to organize tasks, documents, and materials in a timely manner. Skill completing forms thoroughly and accurately. Skill at maintaining filing systems for rapid, easy retrieval by self and others.
Must possess strong computer skills. Demonstrated ability to efficiently use Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as other comparable software. Ability to use Point of Sale Systems, specialty database/gate access systems, as well as general email, Internet applications, telephones, photocopiers, fax machines, laser printers and calculators.
Proven ability to learn new technologies and apply their use to existing programs in order to improve and automate office procedures. Ability to follow through on established procedures and offer creative problem solving and/or resolution suggestions for existing systems and procedures.
Solid administrative and organizational skills; general knowledge and understanding of marketing/mass communication principles and methods.
Skill in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines in an environment which emphasizes customer safety, service, and satisfaction as the highest priorities.
Ability to assess customers' needs and provide effective options in the realm of Transportation Services activities, service offerings, locations, policies and procedures.
Skill in working as a team, collaborating and working effectively with colleagues, supervisor, guests, and University personnel.
Ability to practice and model the fundamentals of UC San Diego's Principles of Community.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
DOJ/FBI and DMV checks and clearances required prior to hire.
Must possess and maintain a valid California Drivers License. May be required to participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
Must be able to work outdoors occasionally in a variety of climates.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 20lbs barricades and equipment.
Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $33,900 - $66,962 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $16.24 - $32.07
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
