DESCRIPTION

The Senior Speech Pathologist is responsible for evaluating and treating both routine and complex patients in an inpatient hospital and outpatient setting with speech, language, cognition, voice and swallowing impairments. Develops and implements treatment plans, monitors progress, and updates the plan of care as appropriate. Is capable of executing and interpreting instrumental swallowing assessments, such as MBS. Additionally, the Senior Speech Pathologist will collaborate with physicians in the Movement Disorders clinic, ALS clinic, and with PT and OT to provide comprehensive rehabilitation care. The Senior Speech Pathologist will provide neurological care to treat patients with dysphagia, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, Parkinson's Disease, ALS, provide augmented communication assessments and cognitive rehabilitation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an educational institution approved by the Board of Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license issued by the state of California.
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • A minimum of three(3) years of experience as a licensed speech pathologist.
  • Certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology awarded by the American Speech and Hearing Association.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • LVST-LOUD and SPEAK OUT! certification.
  • Four to seven (4 -7) years of experience as a licensed speech pathologist in a large healthcare environment.
  • Outpatient experience in neurologic conditions including movement disorders.
  • Experience with evaluating/treating Dysphagia/Swallowing.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS* Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.* Able to work both outpatient and hospital based inpatient settings.* Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $103,774 - $136,952 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $49.70 - $65.59

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
