DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision of the manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work that requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within the business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations of The Joint Commission (TJC).

These may include environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions, sterile technique, procedures and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment.

This position will serve in clinic and procedural areas of the Multi-Specialty Clinic and float to other areas within the oncology service line with appropriate orientation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two (2+) or more years of experience as a Medical Assistant.

  • One (1+) or more years of experience in a large, fast-paced outpatient clinic.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical terminology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in an outpatient infusion/oncology clinic.
  • Prior front desk and scheduling experience.
  • Bilingual- English/Spanish.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
