DESCRIPTION

Temporary Employment Services (TES) places employees in departments that have temporary staffing needs. TES offers a variety of assignments, and an excellent benefits package, as well as opportunities for skill enhancement and exposure to career opportunities at UC San Diego. Hours, salary, and locations vary by assignment. TES has current openings for Laborers.

Under the supervision of the Waste and Recycling Supervisor, perform a variety of unskilled manual tasks. Load and unload trucks and other vehicles. Collect recyclables from various locations on campus. Clean and maintain recycling and litter sites and receptacles, and loading docks on campus. Collect items left outside recycling bins and load them into the correct bins for recycling. Report any bin/dumpster damage to the supervisor. Clean outdoor areas; remove debris and refuse from work sites. Dispose of chipped branches and other debris at appropriate unloading sites. Assist skilled and semi-skilled workers by hauling, carrying, holding, and lifting materials and equipment. Set up and maintain a safety zone with cones, barricades, and safety tape to identify areas of landscape work. Operate, maintain, and clean power tools, brush chippers, stump grinders, chainsaws, or other Landscape Services tools in a correct and safe manner.

Required Skills:Knowledge of standard recycling procedures. Able to operate smartphone, basic computer skills.

Driving is required!

Special Comments:This position may report to Hillcrest and drive to various parts of the UCSD campus and off-site locations. Hours may be Saturday-Wednesday 6:30 am -2:30 pm.

QUALIFICATIONSMust be able to start working immediately after employment offer.Must be willing to work 40 hours/week.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $39,463 - $51,031 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $18.90 - $24.44

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
