DESCRIPTION

Under supervision, assist in basic laboratory duties such as pipetting, weighting materials and making solutions as part of biochemical analysis of laboratory samples. Assist in the treatment of diabetic rodents by injection or oral gavage. Perform behavioral and physiologic assays on rodents. Prepare tissues for histology and perform computer-assisted morphometric measurements on tissue samples. Provide general laboratory maintenance and assist with ordering of lab supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from high school or a GED and one (1) year of laboratory experience or two (2) years of college including courses in neuroscience or biological sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience working with diabetic rodents.

  • Experience with histological techniques and computer-assisted morphometry.

  • Knowledge of general laboratory maintenance.

  • Experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint computer programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in neuroscience, biological sciences, medical sciences or related subject.
  • Skill and knowledge of general biochemical techniques, including western blotting and PCR.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
  • Must be willing to work with small animals.
