Under general supervision, responsible and accountable for all activities and competencies related to supply, inventory, and equipment management. Responsible for accurate instrument sets, assessment, evaluation of instrument tray packaging. Prepares instrument refurbishing schedules, maintained organized work area, and accounts for instrumentation released or received for refurbishing. Determines appropriate instrument needs and assessesinstrument vendors as appropriate.
Works closely with Operating Room team, Sterile Processing team, and vendors to assure concise communication. Uses instrument tracking system to review missing instruments, creates and updates count sheets, and running reports for instrumentation. Coordinates instrument repair with all vendors, assess instrument trails, and evaluations with vendors. May perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education andexperience.
- Two (2) years direct experience in performing SPD duties in an acute carefacility.
- BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in 6 months ofhire date.
- Must be Certified Registered Central Service Tech through IAHCSMM.
- Skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the dutiesassigned to the position.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience in surgical service or sterileprocessing preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience performing SPD duties preferred.
- CIS Certification from IAHSCMM preferred.
- Must be able to work various hours and location based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
