DESCRIPTION

Responsible for Physical Therapy patient service delivery primarily in the Emergency Department. Evaluates and treats patients in the Emergency Department with mobility impairments, completes required documentation and communicates patient information across the continuum of care. Participates in program development, represents the department to the medical and general community. Demonstrates competence in the UCSD Health core values.

Depending on experience, the selected candidate will be hired at the Physical Therapist I, Physical Therapist II or Physical Therapist III level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy approved by the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association, eligibility for registration by the National Registry of the American Physical Therapy Association.

  • Physical Therapist (PT) issued by the state of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Less than two (2) years of recent Physical Therapist experience will be hired as a Physical Therapist I OR more than two (2) years of experience to be considered for Physical Therapist II OR more than six (6) years of experience to be considered for Physical Therapist II

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four plus (4+) years working in acute care as Physical Therapist
  • Experience working with Emergency Department patients.
  • Experience working in Academic Medical Center.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • May flex and float between sites as needed.

Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
