Under supervision, the individual will be responsible for the coordination and smooth day-to-day operation of the psychophysiology and neuropsychology human testing procedures. Incumbent will assist with administering structured neuropsychological tests and providing a detailed explanation to participants of proposed study. Clinical assessment duties include: assist with conducting study subject interviews for the purpose of data collection; performing participant follow up and retention; preparing data for entry and analysis; completing diagnostic worksheets; and providing laboratory results to pre-consented research participants. Work with QA Manager to thoroughly review clinical and research records, identify discrepancies and missing information, and maintain records of QA activities and provide periodic reports of the volume and types of errors and resolutions. Work with the Clinical Research Support Unit Manager and Investigators to: compile data and assist in its analysis; and perform other duties as needed.
Theoretical knowledge of Psychology and Statistics.
Proven experience in subject recruitment and screening from Board and Care facilities, and other public arenas, including posting advertisements for studies.
Strong laboratory experience conducting psychophysiological and neuropsychological tests on healthy subjects and patients with schizophrenia or Alzheimer’s Disease.
Administer and in some cases score psychophysiological and neuropsychological tests tests (e.g. electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG), MATRICS Comprehensive Cognitive Battery (MCCB), Alzheimer’s Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale (ADAS-Cog), Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS), Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA)).
Thorough knowledge of psychiatric disorders, diagnostic procedures, and terminology.
Demonstrated experience measuring heart rate and blood pressure.
Demonstrated experience with DSM criteria for schizophrenia
Proven experience with data management methods and standard procedures for entering and maintaining data
Strong ability in transferring and reducing data for analysis using DOS, PC and Macintosh platforms.
Ability to function independently according to guidelines, with close attention to detail.
Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate information to a broad variety of people both in person and on the phone.
Proficient experience using Macintosh and PC platforms including spreadsheets and word processing programs.
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Neuroscience and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Willing to test psychiatric patients.
- Willing and able to deal with subjects under drug conditions.
- Willing and able to travel.
- Must have a valid CA driver's license, acceptable driving record, and access to reliable transportation.
- Overtime may be required.
