DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

We provide campus employees with the full range of personnel services and participate in systemwide policy and decision-making. Human Resources includes CHRO Administration, Business and Fiscal Operations, and six functional domains: Talent Solutions; People Programs and Rewards; HR Strategy and Policy; People Support; Organization Effectiveness; and Data, Systems and Processes.

The Integrated HR Services unit provides specific organizational areas with full-service human resources consultation, guidance and support. Our team of HR Generalists and HR assistants provide everything from strategic partnership related to a department/unit's mission and goals to answering routine employee questions related to their UC and/or UC San Diego employment. We help guide employees through policies and programs and service as a conduit to connect staff to resources.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a member of the Integrated HR Services team, this position will partner with leadership in the departments they support, in achieving organizational objectives and provide consultation and advice to leadership on strategy movements with talent or people impacts. Help align the unit's mission and goals to human resources strategy. The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) uses professional HR concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional to apply organization policies and procedures to resolve the full range of HR-related issues. Work on problems that are diverse and complex in scope, where analysis of situations require a review of a variety of factors. This position normally receives little instruction on day-to-day assignments with some guidance provided on new projects. Additionally, this position will be required to back up other HRBP's on the team and may serve in a lead capacity, providing guidance to other human resources professionals.

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or an equivalent combination of experience/training. Thorough knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures, employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources.

  • Thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, knowledge of functional area and understands how work may affect other areas.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS) and/or other related business software programs and systems.

  • Strong analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to handle very difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively.

  • Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing. Demonstrated competency with and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • Duties may require direct contact with children (defined as individuals under the age of 18). Completion of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) form is required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $59,700 - $124,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.59 - $59.53

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
