The UC San Diego Rady School of Management provides business education through its undergraduate minors and courses, multiple masters degree programs, and its PhD program.

This hybrid position is located in the UC San Diego Rady School of Management, part of a close-knit, collegial team of professionals at the Rady Graduate Admissions and Recruitment area. The position is responsible for recruiting applicants to our well-respected, innovative graduate business programs and assessing applicants for admission. This position works closely with other admissions colleagues and key faculty leaders to develop and implement recruitment activities and admissions processes related to our graduate degree programs.

This position is involved with both admissions and recruitment/outreach activities. The position provides information to prospective applicants and coordinates the admissions process. In addition, this position collaborates with the Director to plan and direct the year's recruitment plan. Because the Rady School has multiple self-supporting programs dependent upon student enrollment, this position has a significant impact on the School's revenue generation.

The position provides individualized information and guidance regarding the impact of a Rady graduate business degree on his/her career. The position serves as central point of contact for prospects and applicants, maintaining ongoing contact while providing "concierge" level attentiveness to a targeted audience of high-achieving prospects/applicants. The position advises and explains the admission requirements and the admission process at the Rady School, with the goal of maximizing our admissions yield. The position evaluates admissions applications, academic achievement (test scores, grades, transcripts), professional aspirations, career and work experience, and suitability of applicants achievements and goals to the graduate degree program requirements and employment pathways. The position uses specialized knowledge of the curriculum, degree requirements, and interview observations to analyzes each application for successful matriculation into a Rady degree program and either makes the admissions decision or makes a recommendation to an Admissions committee.

This position represents the Rady School at external outreach and recruitment events, and may rarely travel to events in the US and internationally. Using well-honed speaking skills and persuasive dialogue, the position interacts with a sophisticated audience of potential business school applicants on the phone, via email and in person and documents all contents into Salesforce/Target X, a CMS (Client Management System). At recruitment events, this position uses knowledge of the Rady admissions standards, student profiles, and professional insight to assess and evaluate the strength of potential applicants' candidacy. The position uses in-depth knowledge of the requirements of the graduate business programs and the career paths associated with our programs to advise potential applicants as to the suitability of their background, educational achievements, and professional goals.

Using creative methods, the position identifies items of interest to specific high achieving prospects and applicants, and shares information customized to the applicant's career path, future career goals, academic interests. The position identifies any applicant concerns about the Rady School and works to resolve issues or concerns that would prevent matriculation.

Overtime may be occasionally required due to admissions deadlines. Rare overnight travel may be required instate, out of state/ international; prescheduled in advance. Must be able to rent a car, have auto insurance, have a passport.

Must be able to transport materials to offsite activities such as recruiting events, graduate school fairs, etc.; must have transportation to get to offsite activities.

  • Relationship-based admissions/recruitment experience, or enrollment management experience.

  • Experience providing information to clients/customers/students about a degree program or university service. Experience using an online admissions system.

  • Experience assessing admissions applications, admissions materials, reviewing GPA/test scores, academic transcripts, work experience, professional aspirations; experience interviewing applicants.

  • Experience using specialized knowledge of the curriculum, degree requirements, and interview observations to analyzes each application for successful matriculation into a degree program. Experience evaluating admissions materials/files and making recommendations to an Admissions committee.

  • Experience developing strategies for recruitment/outreach activities with the ultimate goal of enrolling qualified graduate students. Experience using data to identify target audiences.

  • Experience answering client questions about a degree program or educational organization. Experience taking the initiative to reach out to clients/prospective applicants or students.

  • Events planning/outreach experience: Experience organizing and coordinating admissions/recruitments functions and logistics.

  • Experience using a CRM (ideally SalesForce/Target X) to track contact with prospective students/applicants/clients. Experience maintaining databases regarding applicants, applicant educational accomplishments, etc.

  • Presentation skills. Experience responding to questions. Experience tailoring content of presentations to specific audiences.

  • Experience drafting the written content for documents, marketing brochures, websites, emails. Excellent grammar, punctuation.

  • Multi-tasking, priority setting, time management skills (especially working under a deadline). Rapport-building skills. Presentation skills. Writing skills to update websites, create marketing content, brochures, etc.


  • Knowledge of UCSD campus rules and regulations relating to academic polices and procedures, graduate student employment, student services and graduate admissions.

  • Experience with Salesforce, Target X in an Admissions/Recruitment environment.

  • Experience with financial aid, awarding fellowships, scholarships or similar. Experience monitoring a budget as it pertains to financial aid. Preferred

  • Experience interacting with an international audience, students, faculty, clients, etc.
