DESCRIPTION
The Moores Cancer Center is one of just 52 in the United States to hold a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. As such, it ranks among the top centers in the nation conducting basic and clinical cancer research, providing advanced patient care and serving the community through outreach and education programs.
The Cancer Center's mission is to translate promising scientific discoveries into new and better options for the care of patients with cancer. The Center supports one of the broadest ranges of cancer activities in the nation - from fundamental and translational cancer research in molecular genetics and advanced molecular therapeutics, and from population studies of cancer incidence to community education about cancer prevention and risk reduction.
This position plays a vital role in the Business Office team. The incumbent is responsible for pre- and post- award activities associated with federal, state, private and other agencies. Will ensure compliance with University and governmental rules, regulations and policies. Works with faculty and related academic administrators in the submission of grant applications and other research funding which require analysis and review. Has mutual respect for the roles everyone plays in the mission and understands that often the role will be the only and primary business-oriented resource in the lab.
Acts as liaison with OCGA, OPAFS, General Accounting, OGSR and other central academic personnel in the administration of contracts and grants. Provides fiscal advice, assistance and guidance to faculty and department support staff. All of the above duties are performed in a very collaborative environment; the Cancer Center maintains a membership roster of 342 faculty members whose academic appointments are in 18 different campus departments which often creates complex, unique and one-of-a-kind situations. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Six (6) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus two (2) years of related experience/training.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret complex general policy guidelines, making independent decisions and initiating action.
Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions. Ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume, and deadline driven work environment that requires coordination of multiple activities and the judgment and flexibility to reprioritize to accommodate various requests.
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting. Demonstrated and/or ability to quickly comprehend GAAP, and financial planning and analysis.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Ability to analyze and prepare budgets, to identify spending patterns and project future expenditures. Skill in projecting salary, benefit and indirect costs, with knowledge of payroll and personnel regulations impacting such costs.
Working knowledge of accounting principles, business math and bookkeeping for budget planning and cost analysis. Experience with reconciling discrepancies and audit procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to contract and grants, and accounting.
Experience in contract and grant proposal formats, preparation, submission and administration, as well as federal, state and private granting agency regulations.
Experience with Oracle, Kuali and/or UCPath.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $48,900 - $102,300 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $23.42 - $48.99
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
Job offer is contingent on successful engagement in the UC COVID-19 Vaccination program (fully vaccinated with documented proof or approved exception/deferral).
If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
