DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Clinical Operations Supervisor, the Front Desk Coordinator is responsible for a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of daily patient services within all clinical areas. The scope encompasses greeting patients, check-in and check-out procedures, patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment scheduling for various Cancer Services clinics including, but not limited to, the Multi-Specialty Clinic, BMT, Breast Clinic and Hillcrest Cancer Clinic.
The Front Desk Coordinator conducts registration, insurance, and authorization verification, updating patient demographics, appointment arrival, co-pay collection, printing of appropriate check-in forms, printing of wrist bands, managing/monitoring petty cash (cash drawer), clinic and infusion workqueue review/update, managing and responding to Epic InBasket messages, contacting patients to schedule appointments, documenting via telephone encounters/staff messages via Epic, and working closely with physicians, nurses, staff and other UCSD departments and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of relevant experience working in a large healthcare organization.
Prior scheduling experience.
Proven knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans.
Experience with patient check-in/check-out and cash handling.
Demonstrated experience with insurance and authorizations.
Possess strong computer skills and be able to work between multiple systems during calls.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Oncology experience.
- Outpatient experience.
- Epic-Cadence experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs; Occasional Overtime/Holiday coverage.
- Work locations including La Jolla, Hillcrest, and Kearny Mesa locations as needed.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,077 - $65,960 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.42 - $31.59
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
