DESCRIPTION

The Experience Communications Supervisor reports to the Office of Experience Transformation and leads a small team in the strategic planning, program management, development and deployment of patient experience and team member experience communications. In addition to developing a comprehensive patient communications program, will also manage projects and participate in or lead committees where patient communication is a key component. Supervise and edit patient-facing materials including MyChart messages/announcements, texts/emails, handouts/pamphlets, voice recordings, web content, and more. This position will support cross-departmental work and participate in interdisciplinary workgroups supporting the need to centralize patient-facing communications. The incumbent will partner closely with the marketing team on the development of web content and the web redesign.

The Experience Communications Supervisor will directly oversee the content for the new patient-facing TV channel, design and implement New Patient Welcome packets and program; manage the patient and family information section of the website; and oversee the MyCare Companion program in Epic. May supervise a team of writers or other communications professionals.

This position will also lead the planning and development of Experience communications such as developing culture content for Leading the Way communications and other transformational initiatives. The position will build a communication model to help UC San Diego Health employees feel informed about relevant programs and activities and ensure employees can find important information and resources when they need them. Will be a leader in creating and implementing a communications strategy in a consensus-driven environment, partnering closely with HR, Transformational Healthcare, and EDI leadership.

This position will manage messages and content/knowledge creation for a range of communication programs and channels including written, visual, digital, and electronic communications as well as training and events. This position will assess the effectiveness and adjust strategy and plans as appropriate to ensure fresh, relevant, and meaningful communications for diverse constituencies. Additionally, this position will partner with other departments and communication professionals on a range of efforts including team member engagement, recognition, and experience goals and outcomes. Success will require leading multi-disciplinary teams to support various initiatives that lead to improved engagement and experience. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying and evaluating opportunities, planning and implementing solutions, and tracking and measuring success with regard to the most critical short term and long term organizational issues. The incumbent will communicate the progress and impact of various initiatives to ensure transparency and steward participation in the employee engagement process.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training with Healthcare web writing, content writing, marketing and patient communications OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training with Healthcare web writing, content writing, marketing and patient communications.

  • Experience and proven knowledge and understanding of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.

  • Experience managing complex comprehensive communications programs, including written, visual, digital, and electronic communications, for large, highly visible health organizations.

  • Experience with designing Employee Engagement survey campaigns.

  • Experience creating, developing, and implementing comprehensive long and short-term strategic communications plans.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree.
  • Supervisory experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience identifying specific communications needs and developing the content and process to improve engagement and experience.
