DESCRIPTION

The UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) advances scientific discovery to improve health - bringing discoveries from the lab to the bedside. ACTRI was established to provide education, training and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area. It encompasses four hospital systems, two universities and four biomedical research organizations. It receives partial funding from a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the NIH, National Center for Advancing Translational Science.

As part of the Clinical Research Strategic Initiatives (CRSI) unit, this position is responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and conducting complex analytical evaluations of the ACTRI to be utilized in policy-making and program planning. This position uses advanced survey methods, data mining and statistical analyses to translate data into reporting format for both existing and new surveys. This complex data translation is used to guide the creation of goals, objectives and measurable outcome metrics for the subcomponents of the ACTRI. This position also creates customized analytics reports which provide succinct information in both table and graphic formats for audiences with diverse backgrounds. Similarly, the Evaluation & Project Manager oversees the collection of evaluation data for all centers/units, informing the ACTRI stakeholders of progress toward goals.

As an evaluation manager, approximately 40% of the incumbent's time will assist in program goal monitoring, support and evaluation, researching current evaluation processes, writing and presenting reports on ACTRI outcome metrics and collaborating with other CTSA recipients. Internally, this position takes a lead in consulting with and advising staff, ACTRI administrators and unit directors on evaluation tools and survey results. Implement, monitor, access and revise the evaluation process as needed. Compiles information and produces reports on progress toward ACTRI goals required for annual reporting to the NIH. Interface with the CTSA consortium members on evaluation techniques, methods and standards and will represent the ACTRI at CTSA consortium events related to the evaluation process, capturing/documenting key points to share with ACTRI leadership and staff.

As a project manager, approximately 60% of the incumbent's effort will provide project management support to ACTRI units and perform other programmatic and administrative duties as required for the successful operation of the ACTRI. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth statistical analyses and / or research software programming techniques. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

As the Evaluation & Project Manager is a member of the central ACTRI Project Management Office, CRSI/ACTRI leadership and Director of Evaluation/Designee will work together to provide work assignments, quality and output monitoring, and performance guidance.
