The University of California, San Diego Health System seeks an individual with expert knowledge and experience hardening the security footprint of an enterprise infrastructure. This includes working knowledge of hardening techniques including intimate knowledge of the Windows Firewall, iptables, patch management, Cisco Tetration, conditional access policies, zero trust concepts, desired state configuration, security cipher suites, encryption technologies, operating system hardening, network segmentation and privileged access management solutions, preferably in an academic healthcare environment.
The incumbent provides system design proposals, analysis, programming, maintenance, monitoring, cost analysis and hardening designs of systems and servers, documentation with primary responsibility for the design, implementation, management and maintenance techniques of various system software products and on prem integrations that comprise enterprise physical and virtual computing infrastructure. Provides leadership in managing and supporting secure solutions for the on prem and Azure cloud infrastructure and associated resources. Provides problem management support and resolution.
Incumbent will have expert knowledge with a variety of software tools, including those related to design, analysis and implementation. Incumbents provide consultation and knowledge transfer with respect to the security design and implementation of solutions to keep the environment safe. Engineering experience and knowledge of VMWare, Windows and Linux operating systems and the Azure cloud computing technologies will be useful in assisting to design such solutions.
The candidate works with various parties to bring technical projects to completion. Demonstrated experience setting up and administering security solutions, working with stakeholders and vendors to properly secure systems for operations is required.
- Nine (9) of related experience, education/training in the design, deployment and maintenance of complex IS hosting environments, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training in the design, deployment and maintenance of complex IS hosting environments.
- CompTIA Security+ or equivalent experience
- Operating experience with Cisco Tetration Analytics Operations
- Working knowledge of Active Directory Group Policy to secure systems
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in Security
- Microsoft AZ-500 or other security specific Azure certifications
- Knowledge of IT Project Management techniques/processes.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
