Under the general supervision of the nursing and physician leadership members, the Equipment Tech II will function as an essential member of the Emergency Department through operational support and management of medical supplies and equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to Supply Inventory & Management, Equipment Inventory Management and a broad range of technical and customer service duties supporting the functions of Emergency Services.
High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Two (2) years of Equipment Management or related experience in an emergency department, pre-hospital, or critical care setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, flexibility and professionalism in dealing with staff and visitors.
Proficient computer skills (e.g., MS-Office, Excel, Word, i-Share base programs).
Experience using and maintaining a database and spreadsheets.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to effectively work in and facilitate a team environment.
- Familiarity with common Emergency Department Supplies and Equipment.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
- Bilingual (Spanish/English).
- Experience with Epic, purchasing/accounts payable.
- Knowledge of Premier Medical Management Systems.
- Previous participation in a Performance Improvement or Quality Assurance project.
- Must be able to work variable hours (10 hour days) including nights, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work at both UCSD Hillcrest and La Jolla hospitals.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
