Incumbent serves as Director, Campus Equipment Management within Financial Operations -- a division of Business & Financial Services (BFS). This position provides strategic oversight and leadership of the Equipment Management (EQM) team with the authority to recommend standard operating procedures related to property management. UC San Diego provides direction in the areas of controlling fixed assets owned by or in the care and custody of the University, capital asset reconciliation, and developing strategic and tactical plans in partnership with departmental equipment administrators, plant accounting, contracts and grants, sponsored projects finance, surplus sales, disbursements, procurement, office of the president, and the medical center.
As a member of the Financial Operations and BFS Extended Core Leadership (BFS-ECLT) teams, provides organizational leadership, including strategic planning, and represents UC San Diego on various UC-wide financial and business process improvement teams and for activities that involve collaboration among various participants and locations. Participates in organizational planning, policy development and implementation, change management, goal-setting, and practice optimization.

Expert knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Eight (8+) or more years of program leadership, direction, and management experience.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and summarize complex accounting data, perform complex reconciliations, prepare financial reports, and resolve complex accounting problems independently.
Expert verbal and written communication skills.
Expert presentation, interpersonal and consultative skills
Expert knowledge of finance, business, and systems operations and regulatory compliance requirements. Expert knowledge of accounting principles and financial management techniques, with demonstrated experience applying both.
Demonstrated supervisory experience, performance management, organizational administration, and strategic planning. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with proven ability to apply management principles, practices, and techniques in the conduct of business for a large administrative unit.
Knowledge and demonstrated experience in Oracle Financial Cloud (OFC) platform
Thorough understanding of enterprise-integrated financial systems to manage institutional financial business.
Demonstrated competency and strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Advanced degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or similar disciplines (related field); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
